Original Purchase price was $4,845. In 1961, division Manager Lee Lacocca approved a Thunderbird sport Roadster. Made to capture the spirit of early two seat T birds. It was a convertible with a fiberglass dual headrest tonneau over the rear seat. The tonneau fit the 1966 model and this one has the add on. Only 5,049 “ragtops” were built in 1966, few had the optional tonneau. This car was featured in the 1995 edition of the National NAPA classic car calendar (picture enclosed).

This show winning car is in excellent condition, always garaged and stops a lot of viewers on the road. Condition is 9 out of 10 and is one of the 10 vehicles in the now deceased Bob Peterson collection. One of very few rag top thunderbirds still on the road.

Original Price was $1494 when new. The Henry J was brought to the market as one of the first “compact” cars postwar and named after shipbuilder Henry J Kaiser, a partner with Joseph Frazer, the car was also sold in the Sears Catalog as “the Allstate.” Both 4 and 6 cylinder cars were available. The first year of production found 81,942 owners, in order to create a fastback look and cut production costs, the trunk lid did not open. This car was featured in the 1993 December national NAPA car calendar.
