Presented here is a 1960 XK 150 Jaguar Drop Head Coupe. Found along the side of the road some 20 years ago, the car had already had the transformation from a white/brown car to a red/black car. The engine, Moss transmission, Laycock overdrive and rear end assembly were all refurbished. Engine received new pistons, rings, valves and re boring and surfacing with new rods and bearing surfaces. It was then balanced prior to assembly including existing flywheel, new clutch and pressure plate. The transmission received new bearings and synchro's. Overdrive, drive shaft and rear differential where rebuilt. Radiator has been re cored. Heater core replaced with new. Brake lines replaced and calipers rebuilt as well as hand brake. Shocks and rear leaf springs replaced with new along with all bushings and ball joints. Fuel tank, new. The body and interior have been brought up to a much higher standard. New paint in the correct Jaguar Carmen Red with improvements in many chrome trim pieces. The interior received a new carpet set and other surfaces reconditioned. The hood cover and inner lining of the head (convertible top) and the center seat section were added. Boot interior was finished with new upholstery. The windscreen and side windows were replaced. The dash sports new burled English walnut veneer with instruments all functioning. And all this on new correct Dayton wheels and new Verdestein radial tires.
This is not a numbers matching car. This Jaguar apparently had an engine problem at about 10,000 miles. It was replaced with a 9 to 1 Mark 2 engine from a donor car. It is the correct 3.8 displacement for this later production XK 150 and 9/1 compression. The door sills and bottom portion of the door skins have been replaced as well as the battery boxes. The boot tire well has been completely re-fabricated. Wooden floor boards have been replaced.
Everything else has been preserved and sound deadening added. Door hinges have been refurbished. The car is missing the servo brake booster that it once had long ago as well as the windscreen washer bottle and it's pump.
The car purrs like a kitten and drives very efficiently. A real time capsule. Built for the larger person, even at 6'1 I have to move the seat forward. Given the current upward trend that these cars have enjoyed, this car is priced to take into consideration it's shortcomings and it's present condition.
Given consideration of the condition of the car and a few minor things yet to be accomplished we are asking $120,000. Offers would be taken into consideration.
